The original installation had a step down into the bathroom, a low ceiling, a hopper outside for waste pipework, the hot water cylinder in a cupboard, a partially removed chimney stack, a leaking roof and the window set low above the toilet. I had some help on this one, and all the trades involved produced some quality work.
The installation involved:
Removing the roof, installing a new roof to current building regulations, and incorporating a higher ceiling
Removing the floor/kitchen ceiling, remove the existing joists, and install new joists so there was no longer a step down into the bathroom. This had the benefit of also raising the kitchen ceiling, giving extra scope on the new kitchen design
Remove the existing window, and reinstall in a less compromising position
Remove the hot water cylinder, and boiler from the cellar, and install a combination boiler in the loft
Remove the remaining section of chimney
Install all new hot, cold and waste pipework
Install new stack incorporating all waste pipework
Install wet underfloor heating
Install a wet area shower cubicle in place of cylinder
Tank the wet areas before tiling.
