Emergency: What to do if you smell gas

• Turn off the gas at the Emergency Control Valve, located next to the gas meter
• Ventilate the property by opening doors and windows
• Extinguish any sources of ignition such as naked flames, cigarettes, candles etc
• Keep away from the affected area
• Contact the emergency service provider on 0800 111999
• Ensure the premises can be accessed
• Do not turn any electrical switches on or off.

Gas leak tracing and repairs

If a gas leak is suspected, follow the procedure outlined above, at which point I can be contacted to find the source of the leak and perform any repairs to pipework or appliances.

Using gas detection equipment, the leak can usually be found quickly with a minimum of disruption.

Gas safety certificates

Landlord gas safety certificates should be provided by all landlords to their tenants and should be updated every 12 months.

I am available to install, service and test most appliances and pipework in domestic properties, and am able to provide service certificates and landlord certificates as required, and update the gas installation if required.
